5th Conference of Transport Ministers of the Western Mediterranean GTMO 5+5
On 16-17 November 2008, the 5th Conference of Transport Ministers of the Western Mediterranean (GTMO 5+5) was held in Tunis. Organized by the Tunisian Presidency of the Group, the conference was attended by the Transport Ministers of Algeria, Spain, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Portugal and Tunisia, the Secretary of State from Italy, the Permanent Secretary from Malta, and a high-level representative from France.

9th Meeting of GTMO 5+5 Group of Experts in Barcelona
The GTMO 5+5 Secretariat organized the 9th meeting of the GTMO 5+5 Group of Experts, which was held on 18 February 2008 in Barcelona. The main purpose of the meeting was to analyse the status of the GTMO 5+5 work plan for 2007-2009, which had been set during the previous meeting (April 2007).

CETMO Participates in the Meeting of the Working Group on Maritime Safety
On 7 February 2008, CETMO attended the meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum Working Group on Maritime Safety.

CETMO-ASE Database Updated for 2006 Reference Year
The CETMO-ASE database is made up of nine groups of data: area, population, job market, economic activity, price, currency, foreign trade, international goods transport and road transport. The indicators are grouped together by country in the different tables. The CETMO-ASE database may be consulted at our documentation centre.

Working Visits to the Three New GTMO 5+5 Member Countries: January 2008
As foreseen in the work programme approved at the 8th meeting of the Group of Experts in Barcelona, the GTMO 5+5 Secretariat paid visits to Malta, Libya and Mauritania (the three countries that recently joined the GTMO 5+5 cooperation initiative) on 15, 22 and 28 January 2008, respectively.

GTMO 5+5 Presidency and Ministers Meet EC Vice-President Jacques Barrot
On 3 December 2007, the Tunisian Transport Minister (current holder of GTMO 5+5 Presidency), accompanied by the Transport Ministers of Portugal (current holder of EU Presidency), Libya and Morocco (GTMO 5+5 member countries), held a meeting with the EC Vice President and the European Commissioner for Transport. The CETMO also participated in its capacity as the GTMO Technical Secretariat.

High-Level Meeting on Extension of Major Trans-European Transport Corridors to Mediterranean Countries
A meeting was held on 3 December 2007 between the Transport Ministers of the Mediterranean countries, the Transport Ministers or representatives of EU Member States, the European Commission and a number of financial institutions with the aim of extending the trans-European transport networks to Mediterranean countries.

CETMO Participates in the First Meeting of the Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum Working Group on Infrastructure and Regulations
The first meeting of the Working Group on Infrastructure and Regulations was held on 12-13 November 2007. This working group was created as a result of the directives of the Regional Transport Action Plan for the Mediterranean, adopted by the Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum in May 2007.

Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum MedaMoS Project Calls for Tender for Motorways-of-the-Sea Pilot Projects
Two calls for tender for assistance in starting up two Motorways-of-the-Sea pilot projects were posted in September 2007 within the framework of the MedaMoS project: one for Western Mediterranean countries and the other for Eastern Mediterranean countries.

CETMO Participates in the Euro-Mediterranean Transport Forum Aviation Project Working Group on Air Traffic Management (ATM)
The CETMO participated in the EuroMed ATM seminar held in Marrakech on 27-28 June 2007.
