The Group of Transport Ministers for the Western Mediterranean (GTMO 5+5), was created in 1995 to promote dialogue and cooperation for the development of transport and to contribute to the Euro-Mediterranean partnership.
The GTMO 5+5 includes the Transport Ministers and top governmental experts of France, Italy, Malta, Portugal and Spain, plus Algeria, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, and Tunisia. In addition, the European Commission, the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), and the European Investment Bank (EIB) participate as regular observers.
The GTMO 5+5 has the capacity to coordinate the priorities of the Western Mediterranean and a proven track record as a concertation round table and as a knowledge transfer platform.
CETMO is the Technical Secretariat of the GTMO 5+5 since 1997, allowing to build Mediterranean cooperation expertise, capabilities, and compassing regional perspective, and a strong advocacy capacity in the Region.
